Follow Friday #6

Feature and Follow Friday is a blog hop hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read

Q: Jumping Genres: Ever pick up a book from a genre you usually don’t like and LOVE it? Tell us about it and why you picked it up in the first place.

I don't normally stray too far from what I know I will like to read. When I do venture out beyond my tastes it's usually for books that are deemed "classics" (i.e. books that I think I should have read.  You know, those serious grown-up-people books :) ). As a book in the horror genre, Dracula by Bram Stoker isn't something I would normally pick up, but I read it cause I felt like I should and thought it was great. I mean it probably isn't an extreme deviation from what I like seeing as how I loved Buffy the Vampire Slayer and own nearly every Buffy book ever written (omg no lie).

On a somewhat related note, anyone else excited to see Hotel Transylvania & Frankenweenie. No? Ok... only me then.

  1. I've been meaning to watch Buffy, but does the series have a definite ending? Anyway, great answer - I'll have to check out Dracula some time too!

    1. By the 7th season things had gotten a bit insane. But yeah, the ending has a note of finality to it.
      Thanks for the follow!

  2. I love Buffy, though I haven't watch as many seasons I would have liked. As for Dracula, I just got that book for my Kindle. Can't wait to read it.

    1. I hope you enjoy it! I wanna re-watch the entire series, since it was so long ago that I watched it, but it would take me forever to get through it all.

  8. Great answer. You're so right now that I think about it. I don't think I would venture out much now unless it was for a classic or unless there was a craze about it (Twilight, The Hunger Games, Fifty Shades, etc).

    Thanks for stopping by!

    1. Yes you do! You wont regret it. In my opinion the earlier seasons are the best as things get a bit crazy by season 5-ish.

  11. Hi Sarah,
I grew up with Buffy so it sure, brings back memories...I've never miss an episode! As for Dracula, it's a wonderful one. Glad your liked it!
I'm doing the same as you about the classical litterature. I'm reading a lot of books and in parallele, I'm reading "Pride and Prejudice". Even if I've watched the movies, I like to immerse myself in classical words... and to pratice my English, there is nothing better!

    1. I never missed an episode too! I was Buffy crazy in my younger years.
I like to try and read classics every now and then, and I can imagine that it would be really helpful to read them when learning a new language.
      Thanks for the follow!
